Can I add Sims 4 packs from Steam to my EA App/game?

I originally purchased TS4 through what was Origin at the time, along with many packs over the years. These are all now in the EA app. I recently purchased the Sims 1 and 2 bundle through Steam as I had a giftcard balance. This bundle included those two kits for TS4. Is there a way that I'm able to "incorporate" those kits into my current install of TS4 that I have through the EA app? Or are they essentially useless to me?

  • wtkftw  For any content you own in Steam, you can only use it when you install the base game through Steam.  The opposite is not true: you can install your EA App-owned content into a Steam install, and it will all work together.  So if you want to use your two new kits, uninstall the game, reinstall through Steam, and download your other packs (but NOT a second copy of the base game) through the EA App.

    So to clarify.  puzzlezaddict

    1. Uninstall the Sims.
    2. Download Steam (to make purchases with a gift card).
    3. Reinstall Sims in the EA App to use all content?
  • MajXkisx  Not quite.  Here's the process:

    • Uninstall Sims 4 through the EA App
    • Claim Sims 4 in Steam if you haven't already
    • Download the game and launch it, which will prompt you to link your Steam and EA accounts if you haven't already
    • Close the game
    • If you're buying content from Steam, go ahead and do it, and install that content
    • Open the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > Manage add-ons, and download only your EA-owned packs, not a second copy of the base game
    • Load the game and you should see all your owned content

The point is that to use any content you own in Steam, you have to install and play through Steam, AND you have to make sure you're not also installing through the EA App.  The App will often download packs into the "wrong" install location, e.g. a secondary game install, keeping them from loading in-game.

Hi, thanks. I’m looking to play via EA app as oppose to Steam after I make the purchase.

  • MajXkisx  You can't use any Steam-owned content purely through the EA App.  So if your primary goal is to only have to use the EA App, without launching through Steam, then don't buy anything from Steam.

  • Kyndlerae  What is making you download the base game: the EA App or Steam?  Are your EA and Steam accounts properly linked to each other?  The easiest way to tell is to try to sign into any EA site with your Steam credentials.  If you land in the correct EA account, they're linked.  If anything else happens, let me know what you see.
