Game keeps minimising

So, my initial issue was actually that the game would freeze/crash when i tried to change the settings. I tried a game repair, i removed all my mods, it still crashed, so i came here, looked at the t...

    @Branwen84  Try forcing Sims 4 to open in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open options.ini, search for fullscreen, and set it to 0 (zero).  If this helps, you can try going back to fullscreen at the Main Menu, but make sure the game is also running at your monitor's native resolution of 3840x2160, or at the very least at a scaled 16:9 resolution.  If you can't play in fullscreen at all, you can try "windowed fullscreen" ("borderless" in any other game) instead.

Thanks, that worked 🙂

Though i'm a bit confused, the game was supposed to already be in borderless/windowed fullscreen, not regular fullscreen.

Also, should i expect to have this happen again the next time i forget to make the game's resolution match the current resolution of my monitor? XD

I switch back and forth between 3840x2160 and 2560x1440 quite a bit, as i need screenshots in both sizes.

    @Branwen84  I would say that it shouldn't happen at all, but that Sims 4 does this sometimes, for no apparent reason.  If I had to guess, I'd say it was some mismatch between the game and the graphics driver and that it should be sorted out with an update from one or the other, but I don't have the kind of technical knowledge to be able to find out myself.

    I would suggest that if you're switching resolutions, you either switch to windowed mode before quitting Sims 4, or you force windowed mode in options.ini as you did just now, at least until this is cleared up.  And if it happens again, you'll know what to do.

    I doubt there's any "problem" with your setup other than the fact that you're running a higher-than-standard (for Sims 4 anyway) resolution.
