Game launches to black screen, displays message about visual settings.

Whenever I open the game, the screen goes black and displays a message reading: Input Signal out of Range! Change settings to 1600x900 - 60Hz

Important Notes:
I've had the game uninstalled for several months, and just recently reinstalled it. This is the same PC I've always played on, with the same monitor and video settings.

The message is displayed in the way of an error from the monitor itself (i.e. not in the typical Sims 4 font). Similar to how a monitor would tell you to check the video cable.

The only change made to my monitor set up was the moving of the HDMI cord my VGA adapter is connected to. It was moved from its old place (which wasn't where it was meant to be, mind you) to the proper place for it.

The game is unmodded at this point in time.

Edit:
I had an issue similar to this with Teardown last year, and I can't quite remember how I solved it.

  • @StrwberryCalypso  Try launching Sims 4 in windowed mode.  You can do so by opening options.ini, which is inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and setting fullscreen to 0 (zero).  If the game launches, you can then switch back to fullscreen mode if you prefer, but in that case, also change the game's resolution to 1600x900.  Both settings can be found with the other graphics options.

If this doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
