Thanks for replying @puzzlezaddict ! I've done this and saving works in a new game without my old folder. So I'm guessing that means there's something in my folder that was preventing it from saving. I have so many mods lol how on earth do I figure it out?
@funtybaby For sorting through mods and custom content, the 50/50 method is the most efficient approach. Even a thousand files (literally) can be sorted through in ten tests, at least if you only have one problem file.

But it's also possible that something else in the old folder is the issue, so be sure to test whatever else you move to the new folder as well. In fact, it's a good idea to test your old save with nothing else present in the new folder just in case the save itself is the problem. You can copy the save file rather than dragging and dropping: that way, the original will remain intact while you experiment on a copy.

Hey! So I seemed like one of my save files was the issue, when I deleted version 1 of my save files finally the thumnails were loading and the game itself could save.
However now I have another issue - all my custom content isn't showing. I've enabled CC and script mods in the game, and all my CC is unpacked in the mods folder (I've even removed all subfolders), but still whenever I start the game, only the script mods show at the start and none of the custom content shows. And when I go to place, all the CC has been removed from my sims, and even my script mods show error messages in the notification bar that it's not installed properly. I've tried fixing the game through origin everything ☹️
So I tried restoring the verson 1 save file that I removed, and still with all the right settings and my folders in place my CC isn't showing at start. Please can you help with this I feel like I've tried all the internet resolutions. Again, my svript files show in the start of the game but no custom content

@funtybaby Move the Mods folder to the desktop, launch the game to create a new Mods folder, and move over one mod from the old folder. Test in-game to see whether it works; you can use a new save rather than an existing one. If it does work, move over a cc item and see whether it appears in-game. If that works too, move over a little more and test.
If your content doesn't show up, or the mods show but don't work properly, try downloading a fresh copy of one item and see whether that works better.
The issue of custom content not showing on your sims should be resolved once everything is loading properly, but in the interim, don't save with the cc missing, or it'll still be missing even when the cc is working again.

Hey @puzzlezaddict , so I've tried moving the mod folder to my desktop but it doesn't let me, it just says this can't be completed because the folder is in use in another program, even though it isn't (all other apps are closed)? What's interesting is that when I tried to move all the other Sims 4 folders to my desktop it worked, but the Mods folder is the only one that says it can't be done because it's in use in another program. I've tried moving each folder one by one, and I've tried moving all the folders together as one, and they all go through except the Mods folder.
I'm guessing this is where the issue is although I'm not exactly sure *what* the issue is! Any thoughts? I don't have a duplicate folder so I'm not sure where this conflict is coming from
Thanks for all your help so far and sorry this is going on and on - fingers crossed we can get to the root of it and sort it out once and for all
