Game on PC (Linux) repeatedly crashes when saving

i just got the game, made it through creation of my characters. I then started to decorate my house, got like halfway through before I decided to save the game, and it started to save, but crashed. So I booted up the game again, and just tried saving to see, and it crashed yet again. I have no clue why it is doing this, as the game ran rather smoothly otherwise. If there is something I can install to create an autosaving feature rather than manual saving, that would be great. Thanks :)
