Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Anti-Virus blocking User Folder (Screenshots/Gallery/Mods..)

I looked to see if anyone else had this issue, didn't see it but if they did and I missed it, sorry. I updated my game. I played Vanilla for a couple days, saw most of the mods that I used were updated. Updated them, took out what wasn't updated and enabled game option to use CC and mods. Applied changes, exited game. Reopened the game. No mods, no CC. Checked game options, it was not checked. So I decided to try again.

Same result. Thought I forgot to hit apply changes, so I did it again.

Same result.

I looked up some solutions and took out my mods folder entirely, repaired the game, deleted local thumbnail cache. Opened the game. Went to game options, clicked to allow Mods/CC. Applied changes. Resumed a Vanilla save, checked the game options again. Closed out the game. Put in my mods folder, restarted. Nothing loaded.

Shut down, took out the mods folder, repaired the game again, started up, did the optioning again, applied again, closed out, deleted local thumbnail cache. Before loading one, just one folder. It has nothing but default replacement maps. Nothing exceptional. Started the game, nothing loaded. Checked the maps... nothing. I went to game options again, the selection to allow cc/mods was disabled again.

The thing I  noticed was that every time I clicked in game options>other to allow CC/Mods, when I came back, it was disabled. Despite applying changes, moving off that option and back to make sure it didn't disappear, Despite checking it once a game loaded and making sure several times that it was applied, every time I've come back, it's unchecked again. Any other ideas of what I can do?

Okay, I restarted my system, still no luck. Tested it with a different game option, just the UI scaling, it didn't save that either, so I'm sure it's not the mods/cc if other game options are not saving either.

Okay the HEROS have solved my issue. Apparently, after the update, the Antivirus doesn't like allowing people to write to their user files according to this post.

Basically according to Concrit, add the game to your antivirus exceptions. These were the paths suggested but ::shrug:: your system may do it different, just in case someone else comes looking and finds this before that.

    • C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop.exe
    • C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe
    • For DX9: C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_DX9_x64.exe

Once I did that and MOVED the Options.ini file to the desktop, it actually remembered my settings.

    THANK YOU!
