game save errors

hi!
I'm having issues with saved files not saving/launching and being unable to make new save files.  I just bought the game days ago- I don't think anything should be wrong with it

game language - English

how often does the error occur?- 100% all the time

  • @lile_1005  I'm not worried about Steam syncing so much as OneDrive, which can redirect your Documents folder and cause all sorts of issues.  One example is that OneDrive is full, it may prevent Sims 4 from writing to the Documents folder within OneDrive, thereby preventing saving.

A quick test is to create a new admin Windows account and play in that.  If you start with a local account, as in, you don't sign into Microsoft, OneDrive can't be involved by definition (since it needs a Microsoft account to link to), so you've taken that out of the picture.  Then if the game works, you know the issue is a setting in your main account.  If you get the same errors as before, the issue is more global.  Either way, you've narrowed it down significantly, and we can go from there.

  • @lile_1005  When you say you can't make a new save file, what happens when you try?  And I think you're saying that a save you've created doesn't show up later, but please let me know if that's not the case.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

And let me know whether you use OneDrive, and if so, whether it's syncing the contents of Documents.  Here's how to check:

I get to the point of sim creation, then the game won't create a new household, previous saves exist, but when they launch are not where they should be like it says choose a place to live when they have a house and no simoleons, and when you hover a plot of livable space it says to select a plot they can inhabit, I've also done a troubleshoot, un/reinstall, and followed an error 22 guide that hasn't worked... everything is synced but it's not doing what it should

@lile_1005  First of all, update the driver for your graphics chip.  You can get the newest one directly from AMD:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-5000-g-series-desktop-processors-radeon-graphics/amd

You'll want the recommended (WHQL) driver dated May 10, not the newer optional one.  Restart your computer after installing it and before trying to play.

When you say everything is synced, do you mean in OneDrive or something else?  If you're using OneDrive, let me know how full it is.  I'm not suggesting you buy extra storage even if it is full, only that this may need to be addressed.

It was indeed updated, and I have extra space on the drive so it's definitely got enough space..., however the game still isn't functional. I'm not sure if steam synced right but idk how much that would have for an effect on the game
