Game super buggy after installing university

Hi everyone,

I haven't played my Sims 4 in a few weeks. I finally had time to play but first decided to buy and install university. Upon entering CAS, the game appeared glitchy. The voice options didn't actually play sound, creating/altering my sim looks weird. I decided to just leave it and start game play. My sim won't move, the aspirations, current task, mood, needs, etc. is all blank with some boxes showing up where there should be stuff ,mdisplaying in the moods and aspirations section. It looks like a graphical error, not sure. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't do anything! I don't have mods either and I updated my game when it prompted me to. I'm attaching a screenshot of the game play for reference. Help! ☹️

  • HI  @roflitsval

I merged  your post and move this to tech.

That looks potentially mod related, especially the UI.

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.58.63.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? University, Island Living, Get Famous, Seasons, Cats & Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work, Realm of Magic, Strangerville, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Vampires, Dine Out, Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat, Moschino Stuff, Laundry Day Stuff, Fitness Stuff, Bowling Night Stuff, Vintage Glamour Stuff, Backyard Stuff, Romantic Garden Stuff, Movie Hangout Stuff, Spooky Stuff, Cool Kitchen Stuff, Perfect Patio Stuff, and Luxury Party Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In CAS and game play. Pretty obvious
What happens when the bug occurs? In CAS, my sim is stuck in a T-Pose, the voice options don't have sound. In game play, the aspirations and moods are blank, the sim doesnt animate AT ALL, shes just stuck, the needs box is completely blank.
What do you expect to see? The animation and game to work as expected.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

@roflitsval  This is a good place to ask questions. Once reviewed it will be move if necessary.

    A few basic questions.

Are you on PC/MAC or console?

Do you have any kind of mods or custom content in your game?

If you do then please remove your mods folder and delete cache files.

If you have an existing save game you want to keep move that as well.

Begin a brand new game to see if issues are resolved.

Please post in this thread if this resolved your issue.

@EuphorialQueen asking at the links I posted is better because then all the issues in game are not hidden in general feedback- they are in the correct (bugs/ tech issues) place for all to see.
