Hi @BeeMan0312 Not sure if it will work for you.. I had the very same issue, I can offer you a workaround only. What I did was run it on EA Desktop.. & it worked fine, the 'update' loop must be a strange glitch. You can find the download for EA Desktop Beta here. If you have any problems running it the first time, just restart your pc, make sure also to sign out of Origin, as you cannot have it just 'minimized'. It may show a 'downloading sims game' in the background, when you go to play it (even though already installed, of course), maybe just to connect it to the 'EA desktop'
It happened to me, just prior to the latest patch, amusingly enough, I had used the Desktop version a while ago, but had switched back to Origin afterward, can't remember why..
Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks, Sasha, I’m on the Beta and able to play without my mods so this is a good temporary solution as I want to use my mods

Hi @BeeMan0312 Glad to hear it worked 🙂I'd be lost without my mods also lol.. They are fine to use, with this method, however.
If you could select my prior answer as a solution then, it will help others find it that have the same issue, as it's a 'known bug', it will have a 'bulk fix' in the future. 👍
I have no connection to EA, am an Avid Mods/CC user, but don't make them
