Game won't load main menu after installing Snowy Escape

@DaeDreamer93  The guide you linked is a bit convoluted; you don't need to copy and delete anything.  Instead, whenever you want to test with a clean folder, just move the Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  The game won't be able to find it there and will create a clean folder with no content.

Does the game work in a completely clean folder, with none of your existing content?  If not, try clearing Origin's cache and repairing: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Here's how to clear Origin's cache:

The game does run in a completely clean folder. I have repaired my game multiple times throughout this process and have not had any luck, unfortunately. Thank you for the tip about the clean folder test! I'll also clear out Origin's cache.

@DaeDreamer93  Your dxdiag crashed while running, so a good place to start is with a couple basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

The Sims 4 errors all mention a component of the VC++ 2015-2019 runtimes, which the game uses.  While this error can be a bit misleading at times, it's still a good idea to uninstall the runtimes.  Click Windows key-i, select Apps, and scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.  Click on the 2015 (or 2017, or 2015-2019) versions, both x86 and x64, and Uninstall.  Then download and install new versions directly from Microsoft:

You need both the x86 and x64 versions, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer before trying to play.

These steps could help with the issue, and it's worth doing them for basic housekeeping purposes.  However, the fact that the game runs in a clean folder suggests that the issue is more likely with your user data.  When Sims 4 works with a clean folder in place, does it work the second time you try to play as well?  As in, let the game create a new folder, play for a bit (you don't need to spend much time on it), save, quit, restart your computer, and try to play again in the same folder, without adding any other content yet.

If the game doesn't work after that restart, let me know.  Otherwise, you can try copying your saves to the new folder, and if the game still works, your Tray files, then your mods and custom content.  It's best to copy the contents of the folders, not the folders themselves.  If and when the game starts crashing, stop there and let me know what file(s) you just added.

I ran both PowerShell commands. Here is what popped up at the end of the sfc/ scannow:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.

I have attached what I believe to be the CBS text file, if that can be of any help. 

I uninstalled the old Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables and installed the newest versions.

I also did the clean folder test and the game booted like normal. After playing in CAS for about 10 minutes, I shut down the game, rebooted, and the game once again started fine. I then added the save, trays, and CC/mods in the order you suggested. The game went to the main menu after adding each one. I played for about 15 minutes, restarted my computer, and the game started perfectly fine. 

Unfortunately...

After this, I played for a timespan to to mimic my normal playtime (3-4 hours), restarted my computer and the game once again would not load the main menu with all of my mods, saves, and tray files in the game, just as it has been throughout my time with this issue. 😥

The only thing that MIGHT be affecting the game starting up is script mods, because I noticed that they are automatically disabled upon a clean game. I'm hesitant to believe this is the issue, though, as this only started happening after I installed Snowy Escape. I didn't add any new files into the game between when I didn't have that pack and when I did. None of these mods updated in that one-day period, either.

@DaeDreamer93  A lot of mods were broken after Snowy Escape or the patch that was released alongside it.  It's easy enough to test: move the Mods folder to your desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and test.  If the game works again, the issue is one or more of your mods.  You can test them in batches, or use the 50/50 method if you have a lot of them.

The game does not load the main menu even after removing the entire mods folder and deleting the localthumbcashe.package 😥 This is what led me to believe the problem was something other than mods in the first place.

Sorry for the late reply! I've had a busy week and wasn't able to run these tests.

I uninstalled OneDrive about two weeks ago after other issues with my game, so it wasn't that.

I was able to start the game long enough to have a few LastExceptions pop up from the MC Command Center mod, which said I had duplicate mods installed. I removed those mods and now my game is working. I have never heard of mods causing the game to not load the main menu, so I'm still walking on eggshells, but if this is the issue, I'm sorry for all this 😅 Hopefully this thread can be of help if anyone else has a similar issue.
