No sims in my game

I just started playing my game again but I kept getting "error sism4 already running". I was able to get the game to work by making a new account on my computer but then when i loaded up the game there are absolutely no sims in my game. I created a sim and put her on a lot and it said error restart game and after that I have no sim. She's not at her lot, there are no base game sims assigned lots. I can't even travel because I don't have any sims. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

    ChemicalSnowbal​  Are you're still having issues with this?  If so, let me know whether you've added any mods or custom content at all in the new account.  Please also let me know what kind of install this is: EA App, Steam, mixed, or something else.

    I had just dumped all my old mods into the new mods folder. I made a new pc account and added the mods slowly, and that fixed the problem. Now I just have a whole separate account for my sims4 game. :(

    ChemicalSnowbal​  If you'd like to try to fix the game in the old account, let me know whether the "already running" error happens there with no mods or custom content present.  If it does, please try the other suggestions in the first post of this master thread:

    Otherwise, let me know whether the game works or not in the old account (with no mods or cc), and if not, what happens when you try to play.
