Graphic Card Unrecognizable - Sims 4

I just bought a new Lenovo LOQ 15APH8 gaming laptop (Ryzen 7 RTX 4060, 1TB SSD) and I have been unable to play Sims 4, upon initial login at the menu page (before selecting my Sim) a message appeared, just once, notifying that my graphic card was unrecognizable. The game will open to my Sims house but as soon as I try to use the build tool it freezes for a few seconds the crashes.  I have repaired the game twice, and asked through the NVIDIA settings to use the NVIDIA process for the sims but have not had any luck.  Any guidance would be appreciated.

  • @jah131078  Try telling Windows to use the Nvidia card instead.  Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, choose TS4_x64.exe from the list, and select the high-performance option.

If that doesn't work, do you have any mods or custom content, and does it help to remove the files?  The Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag are often (but not always) related to bad mods or cc.

Your dxdiag also lists a couple of errors for the XBox gaming overlay, so please disable Game Mode and Game Bar, both under Windows Settings > Gaming.

The unrecognized graphics card error can be ignored, as it alone doesn't affect how the game runs on sufficiently powerful hardware like yours.

Thank you, its now working. I tried your other fixes first but it do not help.  It clicked when you mentioned mods, I remembered I did previously use mods and while I had removed before reinstalling it made sense as the pool I was trying to delete was a mod - I ended up removing my save game play (it did not hold anything special as I played many families) and its worked fine since.
