I just had this same issue! Just lost a bunch of saved progress, I’m so upset. I have no mods, and I’ve been playing the sims 4 for around 5 years. I went to order a delivery for my sim and it was stuck on a dark faded screen (for the pop up to appear). Couldn’t go to game options and I tried hitting escape, I had tried everything then it suddenly crashed. I just got cottage living for Christmas, and it’s been seriously messing with my sims game since. I haven’t played the game in a month because the last time I went on it crashed again, I’m getting so tired of this issue I wish they’d add an auto save feature already, why even pick up the game if it’s going to crash within an hour. Now I gotta deal with fussy toddlers and glitchy holidays all over again ☹️

@TechySyd The game used to have an auto-save feature, but it didn't work well and was removed years ago.
If the Sims Delivery updates are the problem here, you can try playing with Origin in offline mode, which should prevent the update process from running at all. It will also make Origin use a bit less in the way of resources; while this doesn't make a difference on most systems, it certainly can't hurt.

Oh my mistake! I thought we were talking about the “ordering a delivery” from the fridge! It’s kind of like when you go to take a photo in the sims and sometimes get stuck between actions. But that really sucks about the auto save feature, I wonder why it didn’t work well ☹️

@TechySyd This kind of issue is typically mod-related, so please test without your mods, as in, move the entire Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. If that doesn't help and you'd like to troubleshoot further, please post in this forum:
