How can I play Sims 4 without draining my battery rapidly? Battery health issue

Hello, I have a question. Has anyone faced a similar situation like this before? I was about to play The Sims 4 with the new horse ranch expansion pack. However, I refrained from doing so as I worried about my computer's battery health. If this continues, my battery may die out, and I may have to purchase another computer, though my current one isn't old. Previously, I encountered a similar issue while downloading mods and playing this game. But, while playing other games, I did not experience such a battery drain, and it returned to normal after recovery. I usually decrease the brightness, turn on the night light, and set the power option to very low to prevent overheating. My battery health was around 67%, then dropped from 59% to 53%. Can you suggest an efficient way to play Sims 4 without overheating and maximizing battery life?

  • @ggytygku  Are we talking about current battery life, or overall battery health?  These are not the same.  Sims 4 is a demanding game and will drain a lot of battery life in a short amount of time.  Playing on battery will also lower performance; how much depends on user and manufacturer settings on the laptop.  It should have no effect on battery health though, and I've never seen any evidence that that's the case.

If you're seeing the health decrease, not the life, does it stay lower after you restart your computer and plug in the laptop?  Please try this if you haven't already.  It's possible this is simply a reporting error, in which case a restart and brief charge might well fix it.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post so I can see what kind of hardware your laptop has.

Or, if you have a Mac, please list its full specs: everything under About This Mac including the operating system and except for the serial number.

There are certainly ways to decrease the drain on battery life while you're playing, but they come at the expense of performance and decent graphics.  I'm not sure it's a trade-off you'd want to make on a regular basis.

  • @ggytygku I have a Nitro 5 laptop. I keep the battery charger plugged in when I play Sim 4 and it's never a problem. I did have a problem recently with my battery loosing power but very gradually over a two week period while it was plugged in, it went from 100 percent to 78. I was going to get another charger and then battery if I had to but just incase I moved where I had it plugged in and the battery was full again is minutes. The batteries these days seem to be very good for recharging and holding a charge.
