How do I cancel travel process

I need help and there doesn't seem to be a way to post on the help forums. I don't even know where to post here.

Basically I clicked "Travel" from the little House, then the Car icon, thinking that was how you go to Gyms and Lounges or whatever (since it doesn't tell you how), it had me pick sims (I picked just my one) and now it is trying to get me to move into a new lot and I JUST WANT TO CANCEL THIS WHOLE THING.

I don't want to move him but there is no "back" or "cancel" button. Googling only yield results on how to move houses, nothing about cancelling. I allowed the move thinking I could just move back, but in-so-doing all my furniture is gone, and I'm broke. I tried going to an earlier save, back to the menu - nothing. It says I can't move into an occupied household if I click the one he currently resides in.

How do I cancel the entire "Travel" thing of moving into a new lot?

have you tried clicking the ESC key ? Does that do anything ?

Or just turn off the game without saving ?

Yes naturally I pressed Esc, and any regular form of backing out or cancelling the action. Closing the game just dropped me back into the exact same place. As far as saving: I'm new to Sims 4 but it appears to be autosaving fairly frequently, I'm not exactly sure where. I did save earlier, but it had been overwritten by an autosave. Eventually I realized I had two saves available to me: One where I was moved into an empty lot and had all my furniture from my previous house in my inventory, but otherwise all progress was up to date - or a version where I was still in the old house, but with many skills and such missing (earlier state). I managed to move back to the original lot, and just replace all the furniture manually without losing any skills or progress. I think I took a hit in cash, but I didn't have to cheat to continue so it worked out.

IMO there should always be a way to cancel whatever action you've just initiated. I can't believe this isn't accounted for during travel in this game, but oh well.

Now I save VERSIONS of my Sims.

Once you click the actual travel, that's like clicking OK on a process. You can still cancel while you're on the map.

To travel, use the phone or click on the M key.
