How to Fix Sims 4 Broken Files

I’ve been scrolling through threads for at least an hour, but I cannot find an answer to my specific problem.

Long story short.. I accidentally saved on the world screen instead of a home lot (which I believe started all of this) and since then my game has been broken.

I have since removed all of my mods & I’m still being met with broken files all throughout my game. I’m not super attached to any of my saves, is there anything I can do to fix this? The mod folder still has a red (x) even though nothing is in there except for the Resource.cfg file.

Thank you in advance, I am new to modding but have been playing sims for 10+ years. It’s so confusing ☹️

  • @gishaunae  When you say the Mods folder has a red X, do you mean in a File Explorer window?  That would suggest that OneDrive has tried to sync the folder but can't.  This alone wouldn't trigger the other problems, but a OneDrive issue could be the root cause of everything.

For now, please first make a backup of the saves folder.  If you have an external drive or USB stick, that would be the ideal place for it, but if you don't, you can drop the copy into Downloads, which OneDrive doesn't sync.  Next, try pausing syncing for 24 hours.  You can see the option by right-clicking the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Load Sims 4 and let me know what, if anything, is still broken.  Please post screenshots of any problems in-game so I can get a better idea of what's happening.
