How to get Sims 4 Digital Deluxe Upgrade bought on Steam into the EA app

I bought the Digital Deluxe Upgrade for the Sims 4 on Steam, as well as some other DLC. I also bought some DLC physically from Walmart. The code to redeem the Walmart purchases needed to be entered in the EA app, so in order to download those DLC, I need to download them from the EA app. So I connected my Steam account to the EA app so I can download all my content from there, but the EA app is not registering that I have the Digital Deluxe Upgrade. It keeps saying I have the Standard Edition Sims 4. It registers the other DLC I bought on Steam, but not the Digital Deluxe Upgrade.

The EA app also doesn't let me just download the Walmart DLC. It's making me download the whole base game again. So I can't download the Digital Deluxe Upgrade from Steam and the Walmart DLC from the EA app. I have to download all of it from one spot.

So either I can download the Steam purchases from Steam, but then I can't download the Walmart DLC. Or I can download the content from the EA app, but I don't get the Digital Deluxe Upgrade content I paid for.

Does anyone know how I can either get the EA app to acknowledge that I own the Digital Deluxe Upgrade, or get the EA app to let me just download those two DLCs I purchased from Walmart without having to re-download the whole base Sims 4 game? Thanks

  • @danidejar  Yes, in your second screenshot, the EA App is definitely trying to install the base game along with the add-ons.  Do you have two copies of Sims 4 listed in your App game library?  If so, have you checked Manage add-ons for the other one, and do you see a Download option there?  You might also try clicking DLC (or add-ons, I never remember) at the top of the main Sims 4 page and finding your packs on that list, then downloading from there if possible.

I would say though that the best option of all would be to get a refund from Steam and purchase everything through the EA App.  While I'd prefer using only Steam to using only the EA App for a given game, the tie-in between the two is significantly more irritating than any single game launcher.  Dealing with just the EA App is better than dealing with both even when everything is working properly.

  • @danidejar  Any content you purchase in Steam can only be used in Steam, so if you want the DD upgrade, you'll need to run Sims 4 through Steam.  But you should be able to download your EA App-owned packs into a Steam install rather than having the App insist on reinstalling the base game.  What happens when you try to download only those packs?  Please post a screenshot of what you see.

I'm not sure what to do. When I try to do anything in the EA app regarding the two DLC I redeemed in it (Discover University and Get Famous), there is no option to download just those two on their own. Unless I'm misunderstanding something (which could very well be).

When I go to try to download anything Sims 4 related from the EA App, it brings up all Sims 4 content (including the DLC I bought on Steam). When I check to just download the two DLC from the EA App, it still says the download size is 25.73 GB, which to me makes me assume it's also downloading the base game with those two DLC.

I attached two screenshots. One of the list of DLC when I clicked "manage" DLC in the EA App, and one of the download window in the EA App.

  • I'm wondering if I should just try to refund everything on Steam and just purchase it all through the EA App to save me the headache. I've only purchased it on Steam a couple days ago and haven't played it at all because of this mess.

No, it only lists the one copy of the Sims 4. It's very strange! And it's not letting me download them from that DLC list at all. I submitted a request to refund through Steam, so hopefully that goes rather quickly. I, too, would prefer to work through Steam, but you're right that this isn't worth it. Thanks for your help!
