How to save with current UI issues and black screen

Hi there, I'm aware the issue in the Simology panel is under investigation, but immediately after opening it, nearly my entire screen froze black. The skill bars of my sims doing skillbuilding tasks ...

@ransackanubis  Try clicking alt-F4.

If that doesn't work, then no, there's nothing else you can try, unfortunately.
