[How To] Take care of your mods on patch day

If you use mods the chances are high that you experienced some issues with them after you installed one of our patches.

The reason for this is simple: Modders have to adjust their mods to the updated files and it is possible that this can take them a few days. Don't forget that they are creating the mods on their free time and for free!

What you should do before patching your game is this:

Find your Mods folder in My Documents --> Electronic Arts --> The Sims 4

Make a copy of the Mods folder and save that copy of the folder to your desktop.

Go back to My Documents --> Electronic Arts --> The Sims 4 --> Mods.

Delete all the mods you have in there.

Patch your game. If you already patched your game and have some strange graphical glitches or other issues now, you will also want to follow this procedure. But of course you can then leave out the "Patch your game" step.

Go to the Mods folder on your desktop.

Move one of your mods back into the original folder.

Open your game. Check if the game still runs as it should and if the mod still does what it's supposed to do.

Close your game again.

Now you only have to do that for every mod that you have. Always keep track which mod you moved last. That way, when your game is showing strange behaviour once you open it, you will know that it was the last mod you moved that causes the problem. Please remove this mod again and check on the modder's page if they plan an update.

Cassandra would approve! As long as the mods were compatible with the Chantry...and the Seekers!

As a Pentaghast, a dragon slayer, she is royalty within dragon age and thus...a goddess within the Sims community!
