I can't get on a lot and 'play' the game!

For some reason I go onto The Sims 4, boot it up, then I go to CAS to create a sim. After finishing, I click the tick and I appear to have no funds and whenever I click on one of the houses to move in, I have to create it again. So I load up my household and the select world menu is just a blank screen and stays like that until I shut down the game and boot it up again. I have the required specs. Also, when I try to build on a lot, the screen remains on the loading screen forever, (or what I can presume after waiting for 5 minutes straight). It just doesn't load up and I just got the game today on the 28th December 2017. I don't have a clue as to why this is happening, because my specs are correct and I've even tried turning the game on and off repeatedly. So far I'm not really having an immersive experience just waiting on a couple screens and making Sims that don't even work on a lot, allowing me to actually play the game.
