This has been happening to me as well. I managed to sort of fix it by making sure that Sims4 was the only application/window i had open while running the game. I don't have any mods or anything so I'm not sure why the game is crashing! You're not alone!!!!

I think that in your case you probably have too little RAM allocated for the game by the system. Closing other applications have allowed the system to give more RAM for the game. But most of these cases happen when there are problems with the graphics card. That's why the Dxdiag on this computer is needed.
