Please also let me know what antivirus you're using, if any.
I run avast as antivirus, and as per a youtube video, have added ea and steam as exclusions. the video suggested then emptying ea cache, which I did. then suggested running repair, on the sims in the ea app, but repair option isn't coming up

@sppnz Please update the driver for your computer's graphics chip. It's over three years old and may no longer be compatible with Sims 4. You can get the newest driver for your graphics chip directly from Intel:
To be clear, you want the standard driver, dated October 26, not the older beta. Run the instalelr as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.
For Avast, please set an exception for TS4_x64.exe as well. If you don't see it on the list, it's possible Avast has already quarantined the .exe. You can fix this, temporarily, by repairing the game, then setting the exception before trying to play.
Please also compare your Avast settings to the ones here and make sure to add any other exceptions you haven't already:
