i have a question.. so yesterday i got a  external hard drive (unionsine) because I heard it would make my game run better smoother for my sims 4 game but i timed the loading screen and it would take about 39 minutes to load in and when i would try to create a new sim it would delay with a white screen and then would lag when i scroll down.. Is there anyway that i can at least play with mods and fix that problem?

  • @2uo7ip0ac99w  I don't know where you heard that using an external drive would make your game run better, but that source is not to be trusted at all.  The speed of the external drive and its connection determine how quickly the game loads: a very slow HDD or a poor-quality cable (or a low-quality port on the laptop) can drag out the loading process substantially.  If your computer's internal drive is fast, the contrast will be especially obvious.

If your computer's internal drive or drives are close to full, that can slow down Windows and other processes, sure.  But the solution there is to offload other data, or other applications to the external drive, not Sims 4.

@2uo7ip0ac99w  Do you need help reversing the process?  Removing a symbolic link is as simple as trashing the link itself and moving the Sims 4 user folder back to the internal drive.  For the game's program files, you'll need to uninstall through the EA App and reinstall on the internal drive.

@2uo7ip0ac99w  Again, you delete the symbolic link itself and move the content back from your external drive to your internal one.
