Issue with mods and saves

Around a week ago I was playing the sims and my sims stopped following commands. They'd just stand there and stare into space. So I came here and a solution was to move my Sims 4 folder onto the desktop and then to move all of my mods/cc and saves to the new Sims 4 folder in my files.

I transferred all of my mods/cc and saves into the new folder, but only some of my mods and cc are working, and none of my saves are in the game. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help!

@iplaysims4alot  As you can see in the screenshot, the Sims 4 folder is in Documents, not Documents\Electronic Arts.  The saves are therefore in Documents\The Sims 4\saves, where they need to be in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves.  This also applies to mods: they need to be in the Mods folder in the same path.

Move your mods that aren't showing up to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods, and if they work, move over the saves as well.

  • honestly from the sounds of it the issue is the mods or cc itself personally after new patches i would experience this too but once the mds were updated its fine another thing i would also recommend doing is verifying your game files as this confirms its none of the files being corrupted

@iplaysims4alot  Verifying game files is the equivalent to repairing: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

Your saves are in the Sims 4 folder you moved, and the game will read them once they're back in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves.  But it's a good idea to sort through your mods and custom content first, and remove or update any files that aren't working.  For the ones that don't work or don't even show up, you can check the creators' sites for updated versions, but be sure to test those too.

I checked my saves and all of them are wear they need to be, so I repaired the game. I opened it again and I still don't see any of my old households.

@iplaysims4alot  Please open the Sims 4 folder that has the saves folder where your saves are, and take a screenshot of the contents (the contents of the Sims 4 folder).  Be sure to include the file path, above the list of files, and the config.log file as well.  If your username appears anywhere, you can black it out, but please leave everything else intact.

What is the config.log file, and do I show the contents of the saves folder as well?

@iplaysims4alot  I don't need to see the contents of the saves folder, just the the folder that the saves folder is inside.  The config.log file should be in that folder too.  If it's not, that's fine, but please still take the screenshot of the folder that contains the saves folder.
