@cassi0peia10_ Normally, the EA App shouldn't try to install a copy of Sims 4 when the Steam copy is already present, but it seems like that's what's happening here. Just to check, are you trying to launch the game from Steam or the EA App? And does it help to close both apps and restart the Deck, then open only Steam? When you have a Steam install, you need to launch through Steam; the App just opens and verifies that you own the content you're using; I'm suggesting that letting it open on its own and only when you launch Sims 4 might be different than letting it stay open indefinitely.
This is a new error for me, which is why I'm asking so many questions. And as said, it shouldn't be happening at all.

yeah i’m just opening it from steam as normal, and it only gives that message when i re start the game for new content. super weird!

@cassi0peia10_ Do you keep getting the error no matter how many times you restart your Steam Deck, without uninstalling and reinstalling Sims 4? If so, does it help to clear the EA App's cache? I'm not actually sure whether that works on a Deck, but it's easy to try.

If that doesn't help, then my next suggestion would be to contact EA customer support and ask that the EA version of the Sims 4 base game be removed from your account, leaving only the Steam version. That would hopefully prevent the App from trying to reinstall the base game.
The caveat here is that this would prevent you from playing in macOS, at least until you added back the base game, which is not simple to do when the Steam version is already present. If you're sure you won't be playing in macOS going forward, it's a viable option, but I'd avoid it otherwise.
If you do want to try this, I would strongly recommend the live chat option rather than email, especially since you'll want to clarify you're only asking for the free base game to be removed, nothing else. If you don't see the live chat option, try a different category of issue.
