Key Binds switching without me even changing them

I joined the game and started making a family and when i started to type the name my key binds had switched. This is not a pc problem, any other game runs fine. The letter 'M' does not even exist, my q and a were switched and my w and s were also switched along with many other things. Would be great to know if anyone else has this problem and if it can be fixed. I can't even type cheats because some letters don't even exist despite me pressing them.

  • 08gi1qfuscte  What language are you using for Windows, what language layout are you using for the keyboard (in software), and what is the keyboard's layout in terms of the keys it has?

  • Its in english, im not sure what layout im using (i dont fully understand what u mean) but im on laptop and i havent been in the sims settings and altered the keybinds at all. some of the letters are fine but some are switched with others

Then there's the keyboard itself, which would almost certainly be in English if you bought it in an English-speaking country.  Other regions have different keyboards to include letters or symbols English doesn't have, or sometimes just because that's how things are done there (for example the AZERTY layout in France rather than the more common QWERTY layout).

The reason I asked about all this is because Sims 4 uses different hotkeys depending on the language it detects.  Having the Q and A switched would be unsurprising if French is involved, due to the standard AZERTY layout, as you can imagine since the A in that case is where the Q would be on a QWERTY keyboard.  So that's the most obvious explanation and also an easy fix.
