Keyboard not working.

I recently downloaded sims 4 and I have quite a few mods.I don't think it is the mods which causes my problem because even before I downloaded any mods, I tried to design a character and when I tried giving them a name,it didn't work.My ctrl+shift+c works when I tried cheats, but when the little white box appeared I couldn't type any letters, only numbers.Does anyone have this problem and know how to fix it?If yes please let me know.

  • @d2i0nos3boa5  I take it your keyboard works normally outside the game?  What about outside the game while Sims 4 is running: if you put the game in windowed mode (but don't minimize it) and bring up Notepad or another text app, can you type properly?

Additionally, if you run any apps that include overlays while playing, please disable the overlays or the apps themselves.  Some examples are Steam and Discord.  The EA App also comes with an overlay that you can disable within its settings.

@puzzlezaddict Hi, I am having this problem now and would appreciate any help.
My keyboard works normally outside of the game, I have no Mods or CC, and I also don't think I have any overlays when I am playing. It is weird as the game will let me use ctrl+shift+c, but like OP, it won't let my type anything in the little white box.

@Sadiesades  Does playing in windowed mode help?

If not, please try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to work.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Aterburner to RGB software might still be active.  If you accidentally kill the wrong process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.  While testing, don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services and open your normal apps until the problem shows up again, and then you'll know what's causing it.
