Laptop overheating while playing sims 4!

My laptop gets super hot while playing sims 4, highest temp reading i saw while the game was running was 95 degrees celsius! I dont know why it gets so hot while the game is running, normal temp for my laptop while just browsing the internet is 45-50 degrees celsius.

I have a cooling pad but it really doesnt help at all during gameplay. I am planning to get my fans cleaned and i have just order the opolar lc06, so hopefully those will help...

But, i have read that you can lower the maximum processor state? (not exactly sure what it would be called) but its where you can go into your power options and lower the pecentages for your processor, does anyone know what the purpose of doing this is? and will lowering it help cool down my laptop while playing sims 4? Help!

  • Hi @aly975,

Reducing the maximum processor state would lower your processor's performance. So, for example, if the game uses your processors at its maximum potential, then you would force it to run at a lower performance, which can reduce heating, but will also affect game's performance.

Depending on your processor's characteristics, this performance reduction might be more or less noticeable while playing.

You should also keep in mind not to lower it below the game's minimum requirements. If you would like some help with this, then please share with us information about your computer.

A dxdiag would be very helpful. You can find instructions on how to get a dxdiag here, and you can attach it to your answer.

    Good luck,

Additional to @EA_Mai, the best thing you can do is cleaning your Laptop Fans and the venting system.

Compressed air spray can help with that, but it would be best to open up the Laptop if you can. Then you also could renew the thermal past at the CPU.

If you can't open your Laptop I would suggest to get professional help at a local PC store.
