Link Steam account with EA child account

Gifted Sim 4 to my kids Steam-account and is trying to start the game. Obviously it wants to do an account link so I have downloaded the Origin app, created an EA child account and logged into Origin with said account - no problem.

But when I try to start Sims 4 and log in using the same account I get the error "We can't do this right now. If you need help you can visit help.ea.com or answer.ea.com." Not much help there though... so what's seems to be the problem and how do I solve it?

  • Did you manage to resolve this? I have literally done the same as you and have the same error.

  • @mdbridges Not really. EA couldn't find a solution so I ended up using an EA "adult" account instead. For your sake I really hope you're not using Steams "family mode" because Origin won't accept the connection to Steam without turning "family mode" off which just makes the hassle I was trying to avoid even worse.

The connection between Steam and Origin seems to be a terrible mess if you ask me. Wish I never bought Sims 4 to begin with.
  • @dabardzen I managed to get a really quick response from EA!

“I've just gotten word back and it seems that an underage EA account can't be linked to Steam, sorry ☹️ -Lynn”

Like you, I just made them a full account and fortunately linked to their own steam account.
  • I know this is an old[er] thread, but I wanted to add another option to the thread in case it helps.

First, confirmation - After spoking with EA Support, they confirmed that you cannot link a child account to Steam.

My solution - I created a 'teen account' (needs to be 14+) and that linked okay...and also allowed me to add that account into my EA Account 'Household' to provide some visibility. So while not a child account, it is better than a full adult account.
