Every time there's a Sims 4 game update I lose all but one of my households and houses. I check my save files and there are no save files before the update! They have completely disappeared. I check 'load game' and the only game there is the current one. They are not in My Gallery either.

Diane362 Is OneDrive running on your computer? Even if you never use it, OneDrive could be syncing the contents of your user folder, and sometimes removing older files when storage gets low on your system drive. That, in turn, can happen during an update because the EA App budgets extra space in order to download and apply the update, then relinquishes that space when it's done.
If this isn't the issue, please let me know where Sims 4 is installed. You can see the full path in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.
