Solved

lot to library

I am suddenly unable to save a lot to the library. It acts like it's saved, says it saved successfully, but it does not appear in my library.

Additionally, I have been getting an error about the in game overlay when playing Sims4, despite turning off  that feature in the app. This all began after the update that changed the UI. That image is attached.

I have removed all mods, uninstalled and and reinstalled SIMS 4 and the EA app. The overlay error happens no matter what I do. It is a specific lot I was building when the update happened. Other lots work fine. Rooms will save to the library from the problem lot as well. Only the lot as a whole will not save.

Please let me know what files you need to investigate.

  • @aylajayn  The message about the overlay may be coming from the XBox gaming overlay, not the EA App.  Try disabling Game Mode and Game Bar, both under Windows Settings > Gaming.

For the Library file, are you checking the box to view items with custom content?  Some items get flagged as having cc even when they don't, and they wouldn't appear unless you checked that box when viewing your Library.

If that's not the issue, do you see corresponding files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Tray?  Check their timestamps and let me know whether you get the full complement of files, or only one or two, or none.

Have you tried saving the landscaping from this lot as a room as well?  You can put a fence around it to create what the game considers a room.  If the problem is something in the landscaping, you can shrink the "room" until you find the culprit.

It was in fact the Gaming settings, thank you for that bit!

The idea to save it all as one room was clever, but the basement apparently makes that impossible.

If I try to do building by building, it doesn't read it as a room, just unconnected walls. Even when I use the room tool, either with walls or fences. Walls just takes away all the walls of the house anyway, 😅

The files do exist in the tray.

Turns out it's the CC thing. Which makes no sense at all bc I don't HAVE CC 😂😂😂

Thank you so much. Idk how to figure out what it thinks is CC, but it shows life and death twice in the listing... maybe it's an event item?

@aylajayn  The most common cause of the cc flag (with no cc present) is a photo or custom painting, so start there.

And glad to hear the other part is resolved.
