Solved

Mermaid no tail, no hydration trait, but the tail appears in create a sim.

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? The sims4
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? i have all of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? You need a human and a mermaid and they need to make a baby mermaid and then it will happen, maybe it is because the father was human
What happens when the bug occurs? The mermaid daughter is a mermaid, but without a tail showing or the hydration trait. However in create-a-sim it shows that she does have a mermaid tail, but it does not appear to show up when she is swimming? My mermaid mom is working perfectly fine, no bugs or anything. It is only the daughter, and I tried everything to fix it. Basically the daughter says she is a mermaid, and can do the mermaid abilities, but the tail does not appear and she does not have the hydration trait.
What do you expect to see? Mermaid daughter of a human and mermaid, the daughter's tail and hydration trait are not working. However, it shows the tail in create-a-sim.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

All my mods are update and working, and I always go through my mods and cc to make sure nothing is broken. That's why the mermaid mother is working perfectly fine. If it was a cc problem it would be all mermaids. Here is a picture of the mom, and the other picture is the daughter. The father is a human.

@Sasha3101998 Yup, that Sim definitely has some mixed info which explains why she shows the way she does.

Mod issues have nothing to do with how experienced you are with mods. If the mod has a bug .. you will get a problem.

I can see two causes for this:

    - There's now human/mermaid hybrids being created
    - A mod you use has a problem and it's causing the issue for the traits not being properly being assigned.

The easiest thing to do would be to remove the hidden mermaid trait from the Sim which should make them a full human. You can then make her a mermaid again with kelp.

If you have a backup from before the baby was born, it would be easiest to test without any mods at all to see if it gets born the same way.

  • @Sasha3101998 Since you use mods, can you try the Show/Search Sim Info Mod and check on the hidden traits the Sim has ?

Post a picture of the traits.

It's really hard to tell if it's mod related or not. Was the mom also an ingame born or did you create her ?
  • I created the mom and she was not a mermaid to begin with, She was human to begin with and I changed her to a mermaid. I am not sure what you mean by traits but her traits are jealous, cat lover and ambitious. All my other mermaids are fine which makes it so weird. The father was human and the mother was a mermaid...Maybe it caused her to not be a full mermaid? This has never happened before though..I will post a screenshot that shows she does not have the hydration need either.

  • Here are the hidden treats, and Yes I use mods and CC, but I am very experienced with them and I know when something is not working right which is why I have no idea what to do with this bug, because my other mermaids are perfectly fine. I posted the screenshots to this thread of the hidden traits...

  • I did notice in the sims info it says her species is a human, but in create-a-sim it says she is a mermaid...I did try to see if the mermaid fruit would fix it and it did not. She has all the powers of the mermaid too, just no tail or hydration?? What is going on here?? This has to be a bug.

  • How do I remove the hidden mermaid trait without deleting the sim? I do not know how to do that.

    @Sasha3101998 Use the following cheats:

    - testingcheats on
    - traits.remove_trait trait_OccultMermaid

If you use MCCC, I think there's a place somewhere where you also can remove it but I can't tell you where exactly.
