Missing the resource.cfg File and Mods folder

I did have the mods folder and the resource file already in it, but I had some complications with cc not working and I deleted them both 🤨 Does anyone know how I could get both of the items back? I've already tried looking for them in the recycle bin but they're not in there and I've repaired the game on origin but that didn't work either. A few people have said that the files should regenerate after launching the game but they didn't. Someone help please!!! 😢

Start the game and these will be recreated by the game. That you didn't see the folder just means that it is not in the location you think it should be in. Do a search to find the Mods folder..

  • Try a Sims 4 factory reset - Move the Sims 4 folder out of the Electronic Arts folder to the desktop. Load the game to create a new Sims 4 folder. This will create a new Mods folder and Resource.cfg file. - It will be as if you just reinstalled the game, so no game saves or cc.

This is okay, with your Sims 4 files safely backed up to the desktop, you can then move over what old files and folders you want. Like your Saves, Option.ini file, Tray folder and the files inside of the Mods folder.

If you need more info on resetting Sims 4, see the link below:
