Missing worlds, characters, account reset

PLEASE HELP!!!  LOST DATA!

Windows 10 patched last night, and today my account reset.  This means, I am missing my worlds, characters, saves, everything..

When I launched Sims 4 this morning, I was presented with the intro tutorial and all my worlds gone.

I checked C:\Users\Me\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves , and the folder only contains:

     scratch

     Slot_000000001.save

     Slot_000000001.save.ver0

The saves folder is only 56KB.  Practically empty.

All of my other saves are missing.

Searched hard drive & recycle bin for Slot_*.*, but nothing else found on disk.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you !!!

  • Did you ever make a backup of your stuff ? Is anything else missing from your computer after the update ?

    Hi Crin,

Thank you for the reply.  Merry Christmas to you.  🙂

No backups.  Now I know.  😛

As far as I can tell, only the Sims4 files were affected.  Here's another twist:  yesterday at one point after I noticed the saves folder was empty, there was still some screenshots/jpg's in C:\Users\Me\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\cache.

I made a copy of the entire \EA folder as a backup.

Today, the files in \cache are gone.  In the backup folder, the \cache folder still has the screenshots/jpgs.  So on day 2 of this problem, something is continuing to delete my files (!!).

Nothing in recycle bin.  I'll look out to see if other files in non-EA folders are missing.

Thanks again for any ideas you may have.

Cache files are just that .. files to cache information to make it load faster. There don't seem to be many used these days in the cache folder and it's removed from time to time. Don't worry about those

So as long as the files in the saves and other folders aren't removed, you're ok.

Here's a little post about what files are used for what: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/user-files-explained/

I would back the important ones up after every play session for the moment and see how it goes.
