Mods keep reappearing after deleting them

My mods in sims 4 keep reappearing after I delete them and making my game to lag and repeat itself.

I don’t have it synched to one drive but they somehow come back, anyone know how to fix this ?

@stephaniem1996  If you'd like help with the lag, please test a new save in a clean user folder.  This doesn't mean you need to abandon your existing saves, only that it's worth narrowing down the source of the issue.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop; if it copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know how it runs.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

  • Yeah I have tried deleting this and as soon as I go on the game they reappear again

  • @stephaniem1996  Just to make sure, are the mod files themselves returning to the folder from which you've deleted them, or are the files gone but your mods still load in-game?

If the mod files are still present, please right-click one and select Properties > General, then post the Location here.

Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

they aren't in the mods folder which they were as i deleted all the mods i had but these just keep reappearing in the sims 4 folder, i have attached a picture of everything that comes up when i go onto the game and no mods are loaded in the game as i have deleted them all but these ones just keep reappearing in the folder and i think this is whats making my game lag and repeat itself.

    My antivirus is McAfee

If you're using CurseForge, you may have to change the settings for the game and deselect 'auto install updates'.

I had this problem because I sort my mods in sub-folders and Curseforge thinks there's an error/corruption if you put a download into your own sub-folder.

So far it’s been running ok with moving the folder to my desktop, I haven’t really used it that much to notice difference but so far so good.

    thank you for your help
