mods not working after update

I am very unhappy with this last update. Now, the only way my game will work is if I remove all my mods. I would rather not play the game than play without my custom content. And to make matters worse, you didn't even bother to warn me that my mods wouldn't work before the update, and then give me a choice whether to update or not. And why the update? Just for a different look on the manage worlds screen? I knew getting involved with EA games was a bad idea. I have NEVER had a good experience with EA games. Now I paid all this money for games and expansion packs, and I can't even play my game unless I remove all the CC. And the worst thing is I can't get the old version back. Good work EA games, you have managed to once again ruin my gaming experience. You're batting a thousand in that department.

Maxis sure picked the wrong horse when they linked up with you!

  • Hi @AvatarFan1996

you're using mods and custom content at your own risk. That's how it's always been. I haven't heard anything especially bad going on with custom content (hair, clothing, objects) so you can put those back.

Mods on the otherhand need updating with every patch. Always has been that way. Modders change something about the game code that makes it work differently and if EA changes those files to fix a bug or change something different, they are outdated and can lead to issues. Many mods have already been updated, you just need to get the newest one.

Then there's of course the mods that don't get updated and those need to be removed. Here's a list for your convenience: forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/863545/broken-updated-mods-dec-15 but there's so many more.

There was also some changes made that mods are auto disabled on updates if that's what you're talking about. Information about that can be found here: https://help.ea.com/en/article/mods-and-the-sims-4-game-updates/

  • It caught me to but I always make backups of necessary .exe  game files on all my modded games so I can copy them back into game and make it work with my mods untill they make new versions to work with new update I do it with Steam games as well,  you can also turn off automatic updates until the mods you use are updated if they are update. some mod authors don't
