Mouse cursor in CAS really that dragging/sluggish?

Hello there,

before buying Sims 4, I first wanna try it out. So I've downloaded the Trial/Demo Version and was pretty excited. But then I entered CAS and got immediately disappointed by the sensitivity of the mouse cursor. I don't know how to describe it properly, but it feels like I would dragging my mouse through really thick sirup when I wanna edit the facial/body details. And it requires a lot effort to see only a tiny change.

Of course I was playing around with the game settings, tried this and that, but no result. And of course I asked Google and there where a few matches (including here), but mostly related to Mac PCs. So I tried it again and finally found something where I've read from people who had that problem on Windows and someone answered that this sirup-thing isn't actually a problem, it's the normal way the cursor in CAS works. But then another person answered that it is a bug/glitch.

So what is true now? Is it true that the cursor really works so dragging? Or should it be faster like in the promo videos I've seen? ... I'm really unsure now if I should buy the game or not because I actually don't like this sluggish cursor thing.

Thanks a lot in advance for every helpful message.

PC Specs are the following: Windows 7 (64-bit) | Intel Core i7 | 8,00 MB RAM | GeForce GTX 670M

  • Could you post a video of what you're seeing ? Doesn't sound right.

Did you download the full game demo or just the CAS demo ? If it's full game, do you have the same issues in live mode ?

    Hello crinrict,

    thank you for your reply.

I never ever recorded a video before, so I hope this worked out fine.

I've got the single CAS Demo and had the Trial Version of the Full Game. In both CAS versions was the sirup-mouse while editing the facial/body details. But in Live Mode of the game itself was everything alright. Even CAS Mode is alright except for the moment I wanna edit the details.

I hope you can see what I mean in the video. http://www.filedropper.com/casdemodraggingmouse

EDIT: I now watched some videos on YouTube of the CAS mode and compared to my own video it seems that this sirup-mouse-thing is the normal way the mouse works at this point, no?

Does it only show the described behavior when you actually edit or also if you move from one body part to another.

As far as I can tell from your video, it looks normal to me but I'll get some second opinions from people that use CAS more often than I do

Yes, it's only when I actually edit the facial and body details.

Apart from that the cursor works fine and fast when I switch from one part to another or when I rotate the camera etc. That's the reason why I'm confused. But even though I don't like this sirup-thing, it seems more and more that my mouse isn't really dragging. It really seems that this is the normal way the cursor works at the facial/body details, don't you think?

crinrict, thank you very much for your response again. :-) If you have any more news I would appreciate it if you could post them. And otherwise I will accept the current state as the solution for my question, ok?

    Many greetings,
