Multiple problems lag and no launch

Open origin after vacation

Update the sims

Update NvidiaGeforce

Open game: MASSIVE LAG

Close game

Use information from this page: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-lag-and-game-crashes-after-1-90-375-1020-update/td-p/11709568

And execute the following

"

When you reboot, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example RGB software or MSI Afterburner.  If you accidentally kill the wrong process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer.

Now my GeForceExperience won't launch.

Reïnstall Nvidia drivers.

Open game. Works for a sec. Decide to add mods back. Works still. Build on my new sims house, and go through the new debug items from High School Years. Open a sortof waterfall thing from Snowy Escape (I think that's what it was). Massive lag returns.

Make first DxDiag (I think it was this moment).

Delete all mods, open game, still a massive lag. Close game again.

Decide to give in to origin nagging about installing the EA launcher.

Install EA launcher and decide to repair the game while I'm at it.

EA gives error message I need to repair the game (game is corrupted).

Make second DxDiag.

  • @Lavendela91  There's no reason you need to use the EA App rather than Origin.  You can actually have both installed on your computer; you just can't have both open at the same time.  So if the EA App isn't letting you launch the game, please go back to using Origin, at least for now.  If you get an error when trying to open it, open the Task Manager and kill the EABackgroundService.exe, or just restart your computer.

Your dxdiag lists a number of Windows errors that are not necessarily related to Sims 4, but it's a good idea to clean those up anyway.  Start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Please try playing with Origin in offline mode and with your computer offline, at least to test.  If that doesn't help, let me know what antivirus you use, if any, and whether it helps to disable it.  Your computer should still be safe as long as you don't open anything other than Origin (or the EA App) and Sims 4, but you can test again while offline if you prefer.

There's also a longstanding known issue with lag when entering or exiting Build/Buy mode:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-PC-MAC-Massive-Lag-when-entering-and-exiting-BuyBuild-Mode/td-p/9204644

If you think this is your issue, especially if the above steps don't help, let me know and I can merge this thread with that one.
