Solved

My audio works for speaker but not my headphones.

I have tried almost everything I could to fix this issue...Nothing seems to work and it's frustrating. I've done the config and options file deletion, repaired my game, uninstalled, and checked to see if it was an issue with my computer (updated my driver, and from what I can tell my game isn't muted.) It stopped working as soon as I was going to livestream on Streamlabs to Twitch. I've even used different headphones.

But even on my game bar shows that the Sims doesn't show up as an audio as it seems completely muted. So I'm unsure of what to do due to the lack of videos on this problem and seemingly nobody I've seen has a solution to this particular problem.

  • @Brennuhduh  Please try playing in a clean boot, just to make sure no other software is interfering with the sound output.  Here's how:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

Please make sure the headphones are plugged in and working before opening the EA App, to be thorough.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know whether the headphones use USB or jack, and if both pairs you've tested use the same connection, try the other, if possible.

go into your computers settings and check to see if they haven't been changed with an update.

@Brennuhduh  I'm glad it helped.  I would suggest testing to find out which service is at fault here, rather than continuing to use your computer with everything disabled.  To be clear, you're not doing any harm, but some programs won't function correctly without these services enabled.  You can use the 50/50 method for testing, i.e. reenable half the services, then if the problem is back, disable half of the ones you enabled, and so on; or just reenable a handful at a time and cut things down from there.

The tests can of course wait until you have some free time.  Luckily, testing should be quick since you'll know right away whether the sound is present.
