Solved

My game is COMPLETELY broken

So the day before yesterday, I was playing the game and my computer ran out of battery and shut down before I could save mid-game. So I plugged it in and saved when it turned back on. Afterwards, my game couldn't open anymore but I managed to fix this problem by reinstalling the EA app. Everything was working fine until I updated it yesterday. I can't play at all anymore. First, I must advise that I reinstalled the game several times, I repaired it through EA, I even contacted the online help service but nothing.

My first problem is that I get the error code 22 when I try to continue one of my saved games. I thought my saves were corrupted so I removed them and restarted the game but nothing changed. The employee who was helping me sent me this link for it https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/ but even that didn't work.

My second issue is an error that says that the express delivery cannot be downloaded, the code is long so look at it in the picture. When I go to the game settings, I can't do the delivery update manually otherwise the message comes back.

My third problem is that when I try to start a new game, I can't choose a lot because it says it's not residential even though it is.

Apart from these 3 problems I can't play at all even by trying to start a new household in a new game. Also I can't disable my mods, when I disabled them they automatically come back after restarting the game. I don't know what's going on but I tried everything and I'm super frustrated because I just wanted to playing with infants :/ I don't know if I'm going to have to wait for the next update but I don't want to lose such an expensive game (with all the packs I have) after only 1 year using it.

@squishyARMYs  Please disable the EA App, the two Tablets, Edge, Teams, and XBox App Services on startup.  You can open these apps whenever you want, but right now, they're running all the time and collectively using a lot of RAM that your computer could better direct elsewhere.  Restart your computer after changing the settings.

If you still can't play, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services you normally use.  You'll be able to sign into the EA App and launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything.  Here again, don't open any other apps while trying to play.

Please also let me know what other changes you made to your system.  I can't really help if I don't know what other troubleshooting steps you're trying at the same time.

@squishyARMYs  That is quite a lot of malware that Malwarebytes removed.  I'd run another scan just to make sure nothing has managed to restore or reinstall itself, and then create yet another new admin account and see if you can play.  The malware may have been corrupting your new accounts after you created them, but in that case, a new account made after the malware is gone should be safe.

@puzzlezaddict I was about to make another account when I realized that my game seems to be fixed! The errors disapeared and I was able to disable mods before putting my files back in. Everything seems to be fine now, I think the game fixed itself. Still, thanks for everything and I will definitly be using all the hacks you gave me if it ever happens again. 🙂
