my game will not launch

My game won't start and in my sims 4 folder there is a folder named content. In that content folder was a file named retail.pc.contentmanifest. I uninstalled the game, reparied, removed cc from the last day my game worked, updated my computer and it still won't launch. Also every time I look in my Sims 4 folder that content file is back, but the retail.pc.manifest is no longer there. Please help!

I have this same issue though I do not have any CC installed with my games.

Just played a few days ago and not issues.

Not every time I try to launch the game I get the error Failed to Launch double check your connection and try again.

I've tried everything form restarting, clearing caches both for EA and Sims 4, repairing the game, uninstalling the app and reinstalling, and nothing is working.

  • @kendramjf  The Content folder holds data from the Sims Delivery Express.  If your game won't launch, the SDX doesn't get downloaded, so the Content folder will exist but stay empty.

As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If the game still won't launch, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also post a screenshot of any error message you get.

@adunc14  There's a master thread for your issue here:

Please post in that thread, and include an EA App error report ID:
