MY SIMS 4 GAME CRASHES WHEN I TRY TO TRAVEL OR CHANGE OUTFITS - HELP

Hello everyone!

Recently ive been playing my sims and when i try to travel somewhere or plan my outfits for my sims, it will "the sims 4 stopped working" and take me back to my desktop. Before it wasn't that frequent but since the new update with the toddlers, it became more frequent. Like it will manage to load/travel the first time, but when i make them travel again, it will just crash.

I do have mods/custom content but i know they're not the problem causing it because i do have a program that identifies the broken or error mods and i had the sims 3 installed before (brand new) and it crashed as well, and i didnt even have any custom content on it, so i know it has something to do with my laptop compatibility/graphics.

I really love the game but it really frustrates me that i cant play for a long time or i have to stay in the sims home the whole time because im afraid that it will crash if i try to make them travel or plan outfits (it crashes on the loading screen)

PLEASE HELP ME, ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS NOW ☹️

My laptop system information are below (i did try laptop mode but the quality is horrible and i also tried the folder method of moving it to the desktop and replacing specific files):

Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz

RAM: 8.00GB (2.66GB usable)

System type: 32-bit Operating system, x64-based processor

Please, if someone recognizes the problem with my laptop, can you suggest solutions? (e.g. buy a new RAM)

Thank you in advance!

  • Could you attach your crash log files found here: documents\electronicarts\thesims\

Your specs seem generally low and 32 bit computers have a lot of crashing issues lately. The 8 GB you have are pretty wasted. The computer can't use more than 3 GB

The main problem with 32 bit OS is that the game can only use 2 GB of RAM. At 1.7 GB it usually crashes. Most save games use more than that the longer you play them.

If you have the means, I would look into a new computer as your processor (i3 - 1.8 ghz) is also rather slow and probably responsible for the lags

@crinrict What system requirements should i look for if i get a new laptop to make sure the game runs smoothly?

And what does causes the crashes? Are they any other alternatives to this problem?

Sorry for asking so many questions, i really want to get this problem solved.

    Thank you!

As the save gets bigger, it uses more RAM memory. Once the game wants to use more RAM than you have available, it crashes. There's really not much you can do. Start a new game maybe, remove mods and cc you might have and play with less EP/SP/GP.

I would recommend something like this

Processor: i5 or i7 with at least 2.5 Ghz

RAM: at least 8 GB of RAM

Graphics Card: Very important. Get something that is green across the board on here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS4_System_Requirements

Operating System: A 64 bit system is a must

Hard Drive: at least 500 GB
