My Sims 4 keeps freezing whenever I try to do anything.

I have had to take the Task Manager to get rid of the window instead of alt+f4. I don't know if this is because I have custom content, but whenever I try to get into the game to turn it off, it freezes on the white screen with the music. It did this too when I tried to start a new game. Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help!!

  • @5ac43f1dd59a5450  Please test with no mods or custom content at all.

If the game still freezes, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know how it runs.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

  • ebony2319  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
