My Sims 4 screen turns black after loading?

I searched for this on the forums but unfortunately couldn't find anything. A few days ago, I downloaded a bunch of mods and wanted to test them out before I had to go to my grandparent's house. The loading screen with the plumbob will happen without sound, and then my screen goes black.

Here are the mods I downloaded if it helps? I'm sorry this isn't very well written, I'm a noob at this website.

  • Slice of Life
  • Full House Mod
  • Height Slider
  • Have Some Personality Please!
  • UI Cheats Extension
  • Emotional Inertia

+ A screenshot of the folders inside my Sims 4 mods folder. It contains 129 items.

  • @1324_shadow_1324  I've moved your post to the Sims 4 PC tech forum.

Please move your Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and see whether your game loads.  If it does, you can start putting back your mods in batches, testing each time.  Any batch that causes another black screen needs to be split and tested until you find the problem file(s).  It could be an outdated mod, or a corrupt one, or a Sims 3 mod (although I don't see any in your screenshot).  Don't worry about playing your saves without the mods in place—this is just for testing, and you don't have to play forward, let alone save your progress, like this.

If you still get a black screen when loading even after removing your Mods folder, please move the entire Sims 4 folder to the desktop and launch the game, which will create a clean folder.  You can test your mods in that instead.

  •  @puzzlezaddict I did what you said and all of my saves are gone?? How do I fix this, I've been playing the same save file for two years and I need to get it back please.

My game has loaded back up, though, and I'm going to put the mods back in groups like you said. Please get back to me on how to fix my saves being missing.

@1324_shadow_1324  Your saves are stored in the Sims 4 folder you moved, and they'll be back as soon as you put them inside Saves in the new Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts.  But it's better to test out your mods first, to make sure they're all working.  Once your mods are set up, you can just move over the saves as well.

In case it helps, here's a guide to everything in your Sims 4 game folder:

  • There was no saves, and I can't find the old sims 4 folder anymore. Also, all of my mods vanished from the sims 4 folder.

@1324_shadow_1324  To find your old Sims 4 folder, open a File Explorer window and search for "config" without quotes.  Each game folder that's been used at least once will have exactly one config.log, so you should see one for the new folder you've been using, plus another one for the old folder.  You can see the file path for config.log by clicking on it and selecting "go to location" (or something like that).  Then you can move the folder somewhere else so it's easier to find next time.

The fact that your mods disappeared is strange though.  Do you have OneDrive set to automatically sync any of your data with cloud storage?  It's possible your Sims 4 folder, or both the old and new ones, were moved to OneDrive's cloud storage rather than your local hard drive.  Sims 4 often can't find its folder there,  and if if can't, it will create a new one in Documents\Electronic Arts.

Here's how to disable auto sync:

Finally, please open a File Explorer window, click on This PC, and let me know how much free storage you have on your hard drive(s).
