My
I just built a new computer and have been having issues with playing the Sims 4. The game runs smooth as butter with no lag. The game crashes every half an hour. Here is what I've done so far.... -U...
@bcarlso88 It looks like you reset your computer recently, from the errors in the dxdiag. I'm bringing this up because it's possible, given the number of errors, that there was a problem with the process that might need to be addressed. And in turn, depending on how much time you've invested in restoring your data, it might be easier to do another clean install. The choice is yours, and to be honest I can't tell from the dxdiag whether the push button reset errors were resolved, let alone whether they could possibly have anything to do with the Sims 4 crashes.
If you do go that route, I'd suggest creating your own ISO for Windows on a USB, likely what you did the first time around, rather than using the built-in reset Windows feature. The latter should work fine too, except apparently it ran into some trouble the last time around.
For the Sims 4 crashes themselves, is there any pattern other than timing? If OneDrive is running on this computer, whether you use it or not, does it help to pause syncing? You can find the option by right-clicking the OneDrive icon next to the Tray icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Additionally, since this is a newly-built computer, did you do any stress testing or benchmarking? If so, what software did you use and what temperatures did you see?
@puzzlezaddict first and foremost, THANK YOU for the reply. I will try to do another clean install again if needed. For the crashes, I get about 30-45 minutes of gameplay before it quits. Recently, I just had the game run for an hour and when I panned across the household in the game, it lagged and crashed so I'm not sure if this could be a graphics card issue or not. As for the stress test, I just did one using a benchmark and have attached my results here (so now I'm thinking it's not the graphics card). Hopefully, you can see it! With ONEdrive, I ended up turning it off before my clean install and it still had the same issues. Sorry, I'm all new to this PC build so hopefully, I answered everything. Again, thanks for the reply, and let me know if I can answer anything else!
@bcarlso88 If you have a Steam account, I'd suggest installing the free 3DMark demo and running Time Spy and Firestrike. This is not only about the scores, it's also about pushing the GPU, and to a lesser extent the CPU, to the limit.
I would suggest installing hwinfo as well and having it open (to Sensors Only) when running the benchmarks. This will lower the scores very slightly, but the point here is to check CPU and GPU temperatures and to look for any other red flags as well. Hwinfo shows the max value for each category, and an excessively high or dangerous reading shows up in red, so you could scroll through the data afterwards to see if anything needs to be addressed. The free download is here:
https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
Choose the portable version or the full installer, whichever you prefer, and make sure to click the button for hwinfo itself, not for one of the other downloads.
I'd like to see an hwinfo log from Sims 4 as well. Restart your computer, open hwinfo, choose Sensors Only, and click the button that's a sheet of paper with a + to start logging. Save the log file to your desktop for easy access. Wait five minutes, then open Sims 4 and play until you get a crash. Don't alt-tab out of the game or run any other programs, aside from the EA App of course, while you're testing. When you're done, click the same button to stop the logging.
Please upload the log to the third-party filesharing site of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it for me. Either leave it in .csv format or, if you're going to use OneDrive, create a .zip file, and don't open the log before uploading it, or else my log reader might not be able to interpret it.
Hi! Sorry for this delay too forever. I ended up sending my GPU back for a new one but did download hwinfo and attached the CSV file below. PLEASE let me know if you can't see it or cannot get into my drive. Thanks!

@bcarlso88 The file's access is restricted, probably to the default "only people on the list can access this file." Please change it to "anyone with the link," at least long enough for me to download it.
Does this mean that Sims 4 is crashing even with the new GPU? If not, I can still look at the hwinfo log to see whether anything stands out, but I'd like to know whether I'm looking at a crash.
