No body-parts options and blank cats & dogs in CAS

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open Create a Sim / new game
What happens when the bug occurs? When I try to create a new sim, I cannot see any of the body-morphing options (I cannot pick a new nose, a new type of stomach, etc) -- only the main body that pops up is the type of body I can use. I can hit the "random" button for the entire being and change clothing, but not body (shapes of eyes, etc). If I try to create a pet and pick anything other then the one that is automatically chosen for me, the screen is blank: there is no dog/cat.
What do you expect to see? all of the options for create-a-sim body-morphing previously available before this update.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
