No saves and empty library
I used to play Sims 4 through Origin on Mac but I switched to the EA App on PC when I got a new laptop a few days ago. There were no problems when I downloaded the EA App, the game downloaded and it showed my amount of hours played (1366h 22mins). However, when I opened the game, the only option is to start a new game and all of my previous save files are gone. Similarly, when I click on the gallery, my library is completely empty. All of my households and lots that I had saved are gone. The gallery works normally and I am able to search for anything. All of my own content is gone and it looks like a brand new and untouched game besides the EA App still showing my large amount of hours from playing for over 5 years. Can this be resolved or is it likely to be lost?
@sadiah001 Your user content—saves, saved Gallery downloads, mods and custom content, etc.—is all stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. The game doesn't support cloud saving; everything is stored locally.
If you still have access to your Mac, you can transfer this Sims 4 folder to your new computer and restore your content. It's best to transfer only the files you'd like to keep, not the folders they're in, for example take the saves out of the Saves folder you moved over and put them in the new Saves folder. Please also zip the Sims 4 folder, or whatever you're transferring (right-click and select Compress), then transfer the .zip, and extract it once it's in Windows (right-click and Extract). This helps protect the files from corruption during the transfer process.
Saves are located in the Saves folder, saved households and builds (your own or from the Gallery) in Tray, mods and custom content in Mods, and screenshots in Screenshots. The rest is extraneous and will be recreated as needed.
