No sound at all after graphic card update

I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX graphic card in my pc. It updates automatically. I was playing sims in the morning and then went on to do something else. I usually leave it running in the background when I'm sure I'll come back to it. That's when the drivers update from my graphic card was happening. When I opened the game there was no sound. I've have tried:

- Reinstalling my speakers

- I've checked all the options within the game that I can find

- I've tried and do a "repair" within Origin, but I am not able to "click right" on the game.

- There are no sound options in the GeForce experience that I can find

I've been at this for 2 days now and I just want to play. Please help.

If you Monitor has builtin speakers installing the driver may have changed audio output to those. Click the speaker icon in your systray and check that sound output is set to the correct device.

  • Thank you for your reply. It has external speakers and the computer is set to the right speakers. I can play music from them. It really it something within the game itself.

  • @jpkarlsen Thank you. I've figured out the problem was that the graphic card driver decided that it would use it's "own" speakers, that I don't have. For some reason, my "normal" functions like youtube accepted this non excistent speaker and played the music through the normal speakers. Sims however really wanted the real speakers set as speakers. I found out through solution number 2 in the link you gave me that in my settings the wrong output for the speaker was checked (HDMI instead of the speaker outlet on the back). Is still stated the same name for the speakers, but then it said "output HDMI" or something like that (I don't remember now, too hyped it works again) where it should say "output audio back of computer" (again, don't remember the exact words). Long story short, it stated the right speakers with the wrong output and somehow youtube accepted the speakers and Sims did not.
