Not very happy!

I'm not very happy with the game so far after 1 hour of play.

  • The graphics are still 2009!
  • Gameplay seems much the same as previous games. (to be fair, only playd for 1h)
  • When a Sim goes to work, you are forced to wait until they come back. During this time you will not have a damn thing to do. This bugged out completely my sim was back InnAbout hour.
  • Animations such as cooking and eating is really bad, put some effort into it for God's sake, when we pay you so much money for your game.
  • "Sims tracking camera" does not change the camera angle, so for example, you only see from the side when you follow your sim.
  • Not possible to pan the camera when "sims tracking camera" is activated.
  • It should be possible to pan the camera using the "Q" and "E", with or without Sim tracking camera" activated!
  • Hey there,

If you're unhappy with your game, you can simply get a refund.

    The Origin Great Game Guarantee:

You may return EA full game digital downloads (PC/Mac) purchased on Origin for a full refund within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase or within seven days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first. This is in addition to your standard return or refund rights.

    Here's how:

    1. Visit your Order History and select the "Request a Refund" link next to any eligible product.
    2. Complete and submit the Refund Request Form.
    3. You'll get a response within 48 hours and your refund within 10 days if you meet the refund criteria.

DLC and non-EA games purchased on Origin are excluded from the Great Game Guarantee. So, this is a guarantee for full game (a.k.a. "base game") digital downloads published by EA for now, including full games on pre-order and most full games on promotional discount.

    Policy details: https://www.origin.com/en-ie/great-game-guarantee-terms

P.S. You can change your camera controls. The Sims 3 Camera option is available under Camera settings in Game Options 😕mileyhappy:

Weird to see how fast you wave with money..... Instead trying to convince the makers to do something about it, maybe if we all returned the game, how would your boss think of that.... wait for the headlines in the papers....

So far no employee of EA has written anything here. Operative is a level you get when you promote through the ranks, we are just forumers. Also, by making a comment on the forum the programmers aren't going to take work on it again to make some people happy, and even if they did, they will make other player unhappy. It's never good for all players to get sattisfied.

But it seems that some people already written of this game and when other players give advise it's still not good enough. If you want everything to be the same as in previous versions then don't buy new games. No matter what game, there will be changes.

Not sure what's so unrealistic about a sim being at work and then can't use him for other things. Like i said, the guy who posted this played 1 hour and said it's no fun. If you continue playing you get promoted quick enough and you can have many things that make money for you like publishing a book or selling records. You only work 6 days a week for a short while. My sim works 3 x 4 hours. I fast forward and within 45 seconds he's home.

Edit: i now read what you meant Mblackkatt, i was typing while you posted another reply

    Haha, yep,
I do not understand what the problem is. Think my first post was clear enough. Apparently not ... I'll try again

The game is in a big way just like all the others. I am aware of all improvements made "under the hood" but it does not matter if everything else is the same. Aside from the new face expressions, and intelligent task management, (when it works) I am talking about a bug where my sim went to the bathroom, sat down for half a second, getting up again, washes his hands, and repeat the whole process again , and again!

After a few hours of play, I feel that everything is just like its predecessor. I went to the "museum"
I use parentheses because calling this a museum would be closer to the truth that the graphics are awesome and looks just like any other game from 2014! and not at all like the first edition of The Sims.

The settings were automatically set to Ultra. Yet barely uses any system resources at all. If the graphics had been something to brag about. Is the fact that my graphics card processor only uses 535Mhz of its 1157MHz in order to run the game at 60 fps on Ultra. Would it have been impressive to say the least, but since this is a big fat NO! is all it accomplishes nothing other than to make me proficient pissed.

Apparently, it is believed "we do not care how any other game looks today, people do not care about graphics" so we make the game as resource efficient as possible, so that you can play the game on your mobile for God's sake. Thinking, perhaps we can even out all the losses we had / have for SimCity, (which still has a ton of bugs that are now on The Back Burner)

  • Weird. I think the animations are some of the best I've ever seen in a Sims game. Ever. They're, in my opinion, so smooth and detailed. And they change depending on your Sims personality and emotions. So much work went into them.

The graphics are a matter of opinion. I think they're better than any Sims game, but that's just what I think.

Most sims players have don't have great gaming machines. It is largely not a tech-savvy crowdas well. In order to make the game playable for the largest audience possible, the system requirements need to be kept really low.

Gotta tell you that I was very ambivalent about, whether I dare to reply to your post when it is very professional and at the same time really shows your expertise in this area. What if I'm perceived as an idiot who does not have a clue what he's talking about, it would be extremely embarrassing right?

For it is true, that the animations are very detailed. And in fact not at all unrealistic when my sim has a knife in his hand that appeared from nowhere and soon thereafter, there is a salad bowl on top of the bench.

I do not mean how good her skills are, I am however very confused how you got the word "animation" to mean "The cooking animations improve with your skill. My sim is a level 10 cook and is now juggling with ingredients."

what am saying is about the detail in these animations. As magic a salad bowl shows up from nowhere to put the food in, or the knife she used is suddently in her hand and so on...

I was talking about the sim's animation, not the salad bowl's animation.

  • As far as i know it is a graphic pleasure too look at, i like games that have a high graphic standard yet i think that it still must be playable for a wide range of computers. I do not know the details, but a technical person could tell you about pixels, vectors, math and so on, that's where a game is made of today, in order to have a pleasant experiance.

I want to fill in the gap i see here, when i make coffee, i have to actually take the ingredients and a mug from the cupboard to make myself coffee, it does not appear in my hand out of thin air, i wish it would. When sims place food in the fridge for instance, that goes well, taking it out too, but making food out of thin air and tools appear and disappear, a toilet that is broken squirts water out of the drain instead of the pressurized pipe, not realistic. A home fire, and there is no distinguisher at hand. And there are a number of things they "copied" from Simgames before.

They should have more intelligence, i do not see it. Opportunities within hands grasp they leave, not doing anything to promote them at school or work, and yet i asked for the best autonomie a sim could have, and i still have to control them all. As in sims 3, i cheated once to gain a stranger into my household, an old person, he did nothing his whole life, no accomplishments and no progress, so how could he live? But i think that same issue is in order in sims 4, the only progress EA and Maxis made is KACHING!!

Ok, they raised the number on the game, fair enough, and the town is somewhat stranger way to visit, yet i think and wholeheartedly hope that they will update some things that everybody can appreciate, it is still a game with expectations, what we think we need, we want.

    Play on simmers, play on!
