Thanks, but I've tried mostly everything suggested on that page. I used CCleaner to wipe out all of the Origin files, and I've tried the link to download the new update. Nothing is working...

Did you try uninstalling Origin and then reinstalling the newest version from the Origin website?
For the grayed out play button you can try these:The Play button in Origin is gray
Make sure your game is updated to the newest version (see above). If that is the case and the play button is still gray, try the following things (or any combination of it)
- Restart Origin
- Manually uninstall Origin, run ccleaner, then reinstall
- Right click on the Game in Origin and hit Repair Game
- Log out and back in
- Delete Origin cache files

Ok I'll try this
- 9 years agoI've tried all of these. I even reinstalled origin and sims again. Nothing is working. This is so frustrating...

Could you try disabling your firewall, antivirus and antimalware software, just to test if that might be the problem.
If it is, Origin and The Sims 4 need to be added to the exception list.
